I defend trav's description of GL's manse as a "tin can." What most people don't realize is that trav's sizable and character filled abode - complete with luxury bathroom, refurbished beveled glass on the veranda, lush landscaping and all - makes many other homes look like tin cans. That GL's abode is covered with considerable metal material made the terminology all the easier to use, I'm sure.

In GL's defense, he turned a rather natty looking "tin can" into quite the nice home. His landscaping was excellent.

He still needs a thicker epidermis but he's done wonders with what he has. And it IS Florida!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I never saw the "before" photos, but I suppose it doesn't matter. Those who move into trailers are to expect considerable abuse. End of story. Plus it is GL.

I, too, think GL did a wonderful job with the landscaping. The gazing ball and plastic birds out on the lawn looked like something straight out of "Pink Flamingos!"

My issue with trailers is more the location then anything else. Trailers in Florida are dangerous, hurricanes and tornados are frequent. Anytime a storm tracks within 50 miles of the coast all trailer parks are evacuated.

If GL can't take it, tough shit.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I've been careful to try and keep personal details out of my postings as there are those here who love to play the death of a thousand cuts game and it would detract from my mission to turn you all into loyal Democrats.

As you may recall I never attended any of the get togethers for much the same reasons.

But just for you reason I'll tell you that I cried like a little child when I had to tell a woman who was losing her home and came into a shelter I worked at that we couldn't take her 12 year old collie in and that she had to face the reality that putting him into a shelter was virtually a death sentence and the most humane thing she could do was to have her dog put down herself.
